The Goal: Our customer was a large communications company. One fulfillment center needed an expanded sortation system for their shipping lanes. The customer was looking at a new system to double their capacity.
The Solution: Our process started with understanding our customer. We assessed the problem and the customers resources. Through our discussion we realized that the customer had excess equipment at another location. The solution was to crate, move and install the equipment from the other facility into a blended sortation system.
The Results: The new blended system was installed in less than the lead-time for new equipment. The systems total cost was 40% of a new system. Finally, the blended system doubled the number of shipping lanes.
The Long-term Results: Our excellent work was rewarded with another major reconfiguration a few years later. This included moving a mezzanine, flow rack, conveyor, and pallet rack.
